Loved You Best
And you’ll
run on, around the bend.
Gone from sight, but not from mind,
new
pleasures
I will go
on, I’ll find the strength.
Life
measures quality, not its length.
One long
embrace before you leave,
Share one
last look, before I grieve.
There are
others, that much is true,
But they be
they, and they aren’t you.
And I fair,
impartial, or so I thought
will
remember well all you’ve taught.
The fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this . . .
I loved you
best.

Chug as a Puppy
Chug was our beloved Pug-a-Hua-Hua (Pug-Chihuahua). He wandered in the door as a puppy. Don went out to get the paper and the little guy was trotting past our house on a busy main street. When Don spoke to him and asked what he was doing out all by himself, Chug made a quick turn and trotted into the living room and into our hearts. Chug raised each of our Wolfhounds and at age 17, almost 18, was still the leader of the pack. He went to more shows than most show dogs and made many friends in the Wolfhound world. Everyone who met Chug fell in love with him. Of all the dogs who have shared our lives, few have ever equaled the place the Chugster holds in our hearts. Chug was the love of our lives.
